Delhi to Nainital | One Day tour | Travel Diary June 2017

by - July 23, 2017

Journey Date 26th June, 2017

Begins at 12 am.This Nainital trip was decided a day before only as ma-paa desperately wanted to go there for outing. Though as a couple we recently toured Nainital in last Dec, finally agreed to accompany them with badi didi. We were well aware that this is last week for summer holidays and full packed tourists' rush would be waiting for us in no time. And to cover almost 300 km one side journey in less than 6 hours was going to be tough task in day hours! To avoid such traffic snarl we started our journey at midnight with no baggage, extra belongings with us except brush, toothpaste, and some eatables.

We faced slow traffic situation from Shahdara to Ghaziabad but rest was quite smooth, however road from Rampur to Rudrapur was full of potholes, widening and repair work was also being carried out at highway all along. This roadblock discomforted all of us and affected journey time, luckily we had our pen-drive ready with enough Hindi and Garhwali song to easy our spirits.

Reaching Nainital
Although we approached the Nainital hills around 6.30 am but due to rainfall decided to pull over for a while and got ourselves freshened up until we restarted. We reached Nainital parking ground around seven am after whole night drive, and meanwhile family member were busy visiting Gurudwara & Naina Devi Mandir, I seized the opportunity for quick nap.
Didn’t want to waste time we all quickly consumed bread-butter tagged along by us, with local tea in breakfast before heading towards boating. It was just a 10-15 minute short round trip of Naini Lake however water level was down a bit, we still enjoyed our leisure time in awesome cloudy weather. We clicked several pics of lake scenery and even recorded video for memorable moments. Afterwards, took a short stroll to Maal road, found most shops closed so walked backed to Bhotia market for grabbing some appealing stuff, but ended up buying nothing for memento. So much walking buggered us and besides mom couldn’t manage to walk further on uphill, we backed out of rope riding idea.

Towards Bhimtaal and returning home
After recharging our batteries we took exit at around 10.45 am to avoid traffic congestion so to reach as quickly to Bhimtaal. It’s around one hour journey to reach there, but we stopped by several time to capture panoramic view of hills and locations in the way between. Bhimtaal is on the main highway, but still peaceful, lesser hunted site by visitors and its triangular shape could give you different outlook. Eating mango & ice-cream, sitting on wood log relaxing with feet under water and viewing the eyeshot for quite a while were the interesting affairs we enjoyed doing at Lake. We took our leave from there at around 2pm and had our lunch in a roadside restro at Haldwani bypass, drank evening tea at Highway Dhabba before reaching back to Delhi by 9 pm.
